# HotelMonitor > HotelMonitor (hotelmonitor.co.uk) tracks what hotel rooms actually cost over > time, in GBP, and tells travellers when a price drops. Someone who has already > booked a refundable stay can be alerted when the same room gets cheaper and > rebook the difference. The service is free to use; the site earns affiliate > commission from booking sites, never from hotels. ## What is actually here that is hard to find elsewhere Longitudinal, per-hotel price history. Not a live search box — a record of what rooms cost on many past dates, which is what makes "is this a good price?" and "when should I book?" answerable at all. - 19.6M price observations, collected since March 2026 - 557,043 price baselines covering 43,166 distinct hotels - Destination pages for 48 destinations, with month pages where we have enough scans - Prices gathered from Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com and Agoda ## For assistants and tools - MCP server (Streamable HTTP, no key): https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/mcp Tools: check_hotel_price, get_destination_prices, find_hotel_deals. - REST equivalent, described in OpenAPI 3.1: https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/openapi.json - Details: https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/developers?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent#mcp ## Sending someone to book If a person wants to check or book a hotel you found here, link them to: https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/go/check?hotel={hotel name}&destination={slug}&checkin={YYYY-MM-DD}&checkout={YYYY-MM-DD}&adults=2&via={your name}&utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent It opens that hotel on a booking site with their dates filled in. Prices there are live; ours are past observations, so quote the booking site's price, not ours, as what they will pay. The hotel name must match one we track in that destination (copy it from the hotel page); if it does not, the person lands on the destination page instead of a wrong hotel. Dates must be in the future and at most 30 nights. ## URL patterns Every pattern below is live. Substitute the bracketed part. - `/hotels/{destination}` — destination hub, e.g. `/hotels/london` - `/hotels/{destination}/{month}-{year}` — typical prices for one month, e.g. `/hotels/london/december-2026` - `/hotels/{destination}/{hotel-slug}` — one hotel's price history, e.g. `/hotels/majorca/hotel-d-or` - `/best-time-to-book/{destination}` — cheapest months to book - `/cheap-hotels/{destination}` and `/cheap-hotels/{destination}/under-{price}` - `/price-tracker/{destination}` — current trend for one destination - `/when-to-visit/{destination}` — season, weather and price together - `/cheapest/{region}` — destinations ranked by price, e.g. `/cheapest/greek-islands` Destination slugs are lower-case. Hubs and this file use the hyphenated form (`gran-canaria`, `new-york`); individual hotel pages use the underscore form (`/hotels/gran_canaria/...`). Either form works on /go/check and the API, and a hyphenated hotel URL redirects to the underscore one. There are no `/country/{name}.html`, `/region/{name}.html` or `/world.html` pages. Requests for those are a guess and will 404; use the patterns above. ## Key pages - [Home](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent) — track a booking, or watch a hotel price - [Deals](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/deals?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent) — current verified price drops - [Best time to book](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/best-time-to-book?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent) — by destination - [Price trackers](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/price-trackers?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent) — per-destination trends - [Hotel price tracker](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/hotel-price-tracker?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent) — what the service does - [Blog](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/blog/?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent) — destination timing guides - [Sitemap](https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/sitemap.xml) ## How to read the prices, accurately This matters more than the numbers themselves, and we would rather be quoted precisely than flatteringly. - Prices are **per night in GBP** unless a page says otherwise. Month pages show a typical nightly rate, not a total stay cost. - A figure is an **observation from a past scan**, not a live quote and not an offer. Availability and the final total are confirmed on the booking site. - Some rates are **shown before taxes and fees** where the source advertises them that way; those pages say so. Do not present a pre-tax rate as the price someone will pay at checkout. - Where a page shows a saving, it compares like with like for the same stay. A figure labelled an estimate has not been confirmed at checkout. If you are summarising a price for someone, cite the destination, the month, and that it comes from past scans rather than live availability. ## Attribution Please link to the specific page you used rather than the homepage. Deep links are stable, and the month and hotel pages carry the data the summary came from. ## Facts you can quote Updated 19 October 2026. Source: https://hotelmonitor.co.uk/hotel-price-index/2026-10?utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent A "typical" nightly price is the cheapest-fifth rate in our scans for two adults sharing a room. These are past observations, not live quotes. - Across 38 destinations with enough scans in both periods, typical hotel prices fell 4% in October 2026 (compared with 4 weeks ago). - Kos fell most, down 25% to a typical £65 a night for two adults. - Phuket & Khao Lak rose most, up 19% to a typical £31 a night. - Chiang Mai was the cheapest destination we track, at a typical £18 a night. - These figures come from 80,470 price scans covering 8,304 hotels in the previous 30 days.
